AI shopping feed
Turn your catalogue into the product feed ChatGPT uses for shopping, fix what would be rejected, and upload it yourself.
The AI shopping feed rewrites the product catalogue you already keep in Rixe into the product feed format ChatGPT uses for shopping. It checks every product against OpenAI's published field rules, tells you which products would be rejected and why, and gives you a file containing only the products that would be accepted.
You need it if you want your products to appear in ChatGPT's shopping results. Today that is mainly relevant to merchants selling to shoppers in the United States (see Who can use it).
You apply and upload yourself
Rixe never applies or submits anything on your behalf. You apply to OpenAI's merchant programme, and once approved you upload the file to OpenAI yourself.
Where to find it
Open Analytics › E-commerce, then the Readiness tab. The AI shopping feed card sits next to the agent test. It appears once you have at least one product; if your catalogue is empty, add or import products first (see E-commerce overview).
How to get into ChatGPT shopping
The card lists the same four steps under How to get into ChatGPT shopping:
- Apply to OpenAI. For now OpenAI accepts approved partners only. The Merchant application link opens OpenAI's own form.
- Download the feed with the Download feed button. Only products ready for ChatGPT are in it.
- Upload it. Once approved, OpenAI gives you an upload (SFTP) account. Upload the file there yourself. The Upload guide link opens OpenAI's instructions.
- Keep it fresh. Upload a fresh copy at least once a day, under the same file name.
The card also links to OpenAI's get-started guide and the feed field rules.

Readiness score
Readiness: N/100 is the average over your products:
- A product that would be rejected counts 0.
- A product with no issues counts 100.
- A product that goes into the file but carries warnings loses 10 points per warning, never dropping below 60 — it is in the file, which is worth more than any product that is not.
Below the score: how many of your products can go in the file, and how many are left out until fixed. With no products there is no score at all, rather than a made-up one.
Fix these first
Up to eight issues, most serious first, each with the number of products affected, a few example product names, and the fix. There are two levels:
| Level | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Left out | OpenAI would reject the product, so it is not in the file. |
| Weaker | The product goes in, but weaker, or with an optional field dropped. |
What leaves a product out:
- No product ID, or the same ID used twice (every product and variant needs its own).
- No product name, no description, no brand.
- No product page link, or a link that is not a web address.
- No image, or an image link that is not a web address.
- No seller name (see below).
- No stock status, or one that is not in stock, out of stock, pre-order or backorder.
- No price, a price that cannot be read, a price of zero, no currency or an unknown currency (use the three-letter ISO code, for example USD, EUR or TRY), or more decimals than the currency has.
What makes a product weaker:
- A name over 150 characters, a description over 5,000 characters (cut off at the limit) or a very short description.
- Product or image links on
http://instead ofhttps://. - A barcode (GTIN) with a bad check digit — it is dropped from the file, never sent as is.
- No barcode or manufacturer part number. Never make one up.
- An unknown condition (use new, refurbished or used).
- A category written as a number rather than words (write it broad to narrow: Home > Kitchen > Kettles).
Descriptions are converted to plain text: HTML tags from store exports are removed.
Seller name
Every row of the feed says who sells the product. By default this is your brand name (or, without one, the workspace name). Owners and admins can type a different store name under Seller name and Save; leave the field empty to go back to the brand name.
The file
Download feed gives you chatgpt-product-feed.jsonl.gz: gzip-compressed JSONL (one product per line, UTF-8), which OpenAI's file upload accepts. Each line uses OpenAI's field names: item_id, title, description, url, brand, seller_name, image_url, availability, price (for example 79.99 USD), and, when they can be filled truthfully, gtin, mpn, condition and product_category.
{"item_id":"KET-200","title":"Steel Kettle 1.7 L","description":"A 1.7 litre stainless steel kettle with auto shut-off.","url":"https://shop.example.com/kettle-200","brand":"Example","seller_name":"Example Store","image_url":"https://shop.example.com/img/kettle-200.jpg","availability":"in_stock","price":"39.90 USD","gtin":"4006381333931","product_category":"Home > Kitchen > Kettles"}The item ID is your product's external ID or SKU; if neither exists, Rixe's own stable product ID is used.
Secret feed link
If you have your own tool that uploads the file for you, give it the Secret feed link: it always serves the latest file.
- Owners and admins press Create secret link, then Copy link.
- Renew link replaces it; the old link stops working immediately. Do this if the link leaks — anyone with it can download your catalogue.
- Turn off link disables it. The download button in the panel keeps working.
ChatGPT itself does not read links: OpenAI takes the file by upload only. The link is for your own tooling.
Who can use it
OpenAI's standard upload currently targets shoppers in the United States, and onboarding is for approved partners. Merchants elsewhere can still build and fix the feed today — the same fields make your catalogue stronger everywhere — but OpenAI decides who can submit it.
Only OpenAI's format is built. Perplexity's and Microsoft Copilot's merchant programmes are not covered by this feed.
Common questions
A product is in my catalogue but not in the file. It has at least one Left out issue. Fix it in your store or product file and import again.
Do I need to download the file every day? OpenAI asks for a fresh copy at least daily. Either download and upload it yourself, or point your own upload tool at the secret link.
Can members change the seller name or the link? No. Owners and admins can; everyone else can read the card and download the file.
