Browser extension

See whether your brand and competitors are named in the AI answer on your screen, and track the question in Rixe with one click.

The Rixe browser extension for Chrome adds a small panel to ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Copilot. While you read an answer, it shows whether your brand is named and at which position, which of your tracked competitors are named, and which sites the answer cites. If the question is worth measuring every day, one click adds it to your tracked questions.

Coming soon to the Chrome Web Store

The extension is not yet published on the Chrome Web Store. The Browser extension card in Settings › Developer says "Coming soon to the Chrome Web Store." and switches to a store link once it is live. This page describes how it works so you can prepare your API key.

Where it works

AssistantSites
ChatGPTchatgpt.com, chat.openai.com
Perplexityperplexity.ai, www.perplexity.ai
Geminigemini.google.com
Copilotcopilot.microsoft.com

It needs Chrome 114 or later.

Set it up

  1. Install the Rixe extension in Chrome. Its settings page opens on install. (You can open it again from the extension's details or from the Open extension settings link in the panel.)
  2. In Rixe, open the user menu at the bottom of the sidebar and go to Settings › Developer. In the API keys card, click Add API key, name it (for example "Chrome extension") and tick exactly two scopes: read:brand and write:prompts. Click Generate key and copy the key; it is shown only once.
  3. In the extension settings, paste the key into Rixe API key and click Save and check. A working key shows "Key works. Workspaces available: …".
  4. Choose the Workspace to check against. The extension compares answers with that workspace's brand and competitors.

Only owners and admins can create API keys. A key cannot do more than the person who created it: if its creator leaves the organization or becomes a viewer, the key can no longer add questions.

Why these two scopes

read:brand lets the extension download your brand, its aliases and domains, and your competitors, so it can match them in the answer. write:prompts is needed only for Track this question in Rixe. A key with no scopes ticked does not work here, because write:prompts is never given implicitly. See API scopes.

Using it

  1. Open one of the supported assistants and ask a question.
  2. When the answer is on screen, the Rixe brand check panel appears in the bottom corner of the page.
  3. Read the result:
    • Your brand: Named · #2 (named, second brand in the answer) or Not named.
    • Competitors named: the tracked competitors that appear, or "No tracked competitor is named."
    • Sources cited: the sites the answer links to, with links to your own site marked Your site.
  4. To measure the question every day, click Track this question in Rixe. You see Added to your tracked questions, or Already tracked if the question is already in the workspace.

Matching uses the same language rules as Rixe's daily measurement for that workspace's market, so the panel and your scores agree on what counts as a mention. A single answer on your screen is one sample, not a score; your visibility score comes from repeated daily measurement.

Privacy

The extension reads only the answer text that is already on your screen, on the four assistant sites, and checks it inside your browser. It never contacts the assistant sites itself. Your key stays in your browser. The only page content ever sent to Rixe is the question, and only when you click Track this question in Rixe. Clicking Remove key deletes the key from the browser.

Limits

  • Adding a question counts towards your plan's question limit, like adding one in the app. When the limit is reached, the extension says "Your plan has reached its question limit." See Plans and limits.
  • The same question is never added twice. Differences in case, spacing and a trailing question mark are ignored.
  • Adding needs an active subscription.
  • The extension asks Rixe for the brand list at most 60 times a minute and accepts up to 20 tracked questions a minute.
